Why it matters

What the ethics rules expect

ABA Model Rule 1.1, Comment 8, asks lawyers to keep up with the benefits and risks of relevant technology, and Rule 1.6(c) requires reasonable efforts to prevent unauthorized access to client information.

ABA Formal Opinion 477R addresses securing client communications, Formal Opinion 483 covers a lawyer's obligations after a data breach, and Formal Opinion 512 discusses the use of generative AI tools. Many state bars have issued similar guidance.

Wire fraud during real estate closings and settlements remains one of the most common and expensive attacks on small firms. The Professional Edition includes a wire transfer and trust account security policy, a verification form and a tabletop exercise built around exactly that scenario.

Questions

Law Office kit FAQ

Does the kit cite the ABA Model Rules?

Yes. Policies and guides reference the relevant Model Rules and ABA Formal Opinions. Check your own state's version of the rules and bar guidance, which may differ.

Is there a generative AI policy?

Yes. The Professional Edition includes a Generative AI Acceptable Use Policy for attorneys and staff.

What format are the files in?

Editable Microsoft Word policies, plans and forms plus an Excel workbook. You download everything right after checkout and customize it for your organization.

Can I start with the Starter Kit and upgrade later?

Yes. The Professional Edition keeps every Starter Kit policy under the same ID number, so nothing you have already customized gets renumbered.

Is this legal advice or a certification?

No. Cybriva provides templates and education. It is not legal advice, an audit, a certification or a guarantee of compliance or security. Have your attorney review documents that carry legal obligations.
